Devon based Restless Theatre Company are bringing Shakespeare in a Box: Much Ado About Nothing to cafes, pubs, village halls and theatres around the county over the next fortnight. Whilst keeping the original text,

Restless put a new spin on this classic comedy about the fragility of honour. Using only six actors, a box, and upcycled props. Restless Theatre create an uncompromisingly imaginative performance that is suitable for the whole family to enjoy.

The Festival Players will be performing Shakespeare’s shortest play in the Castle courtyard. This is a brilliant farce of mistaken identities, combined with a few undertones of the dramatic and sinister. A master and his servant arrive in a foreign port which, unbeknown to them, is the home of their long-lost twin brothers. Mayhem ensues as brother is taken for brother in a riotous train of misunderstandings, seduction, and pursuit. A colourful and entertaining romp.

ActivAge Expo: healthy living for Devon's young at heart

An exciting programme is being finalised for a packed day of activities at the first ever ActivAge Expo ( www.activageshow.co.uk ) at Exeter Racecourse on Sunday 31 August.

Met Office warn of heavy rain tonight

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across Devon tonight.

The warning is in place from 10pm until 7am tomorrow.

Heavy rain is expected to spread from the South West during this evening, affecting many areas overnight before clearing early on Wednesday morning. There could be localised surface water flooding.

Blue Badge holders warned of scam websites

Devon County Council is warning people to look out for websites that will charge them to apply for or renew their disabled parking entitlement.

Blue Badges are for free to apply for, or to renew online by people with eligible disabilities, but Devon County Council has heard from residents who paid £49 up front to renew their parking badges online, which were never received.

Lamb shearing and dog trials at Sidbury

Top UK competitors will be taking part in Devon County Show’s Lamb Shearing and Dog Trials Event on Sunday (August 10) at Sidbury, near Sidmouth.

Show Secretary Ollie Allen said everyone was welcome to come along and watch the action which takes place on a working farm throughout the day.

South West Coast Path secures £1m investment

The South West Coast Path Association has been successful in their bid to the Coastal Communities Fund to secure £1 million investment in the South West Coast Path.

This project will repair, improve and promote the South West Coast Path (SWCP). Funds will help with 32 urgent repair works to the path, in addition to a range of projects providing information boards and signage, events and marketing. This will create and safeguard around 788 jobs from construction, management and tourism generated by the path.
