Sarah, an acclaimed local florist who puts the fun into floristry with her relaxed chatty style, will be making a stylish Christmas door cone wreath for outdoors, indoors or it can be laid on a table. This takes place on Friday 5 December, 7pm at Broadclyst Victory Hall, with mulled wine and mince pies. Tickets at £16 includes all wreath materials, and need to be booked before the event. Weather warning of fog across Devon

Drivers are warned to take extra care as the Met Office issue a yellow warning for fog across the region tonight.

Patches of fog, locally dense, will develop through Wednesday evening across Cornwall and west Devon, whilst cloud will lower to give fog over hills further east, leading to locally poor driving conditions.

Later in the night, increasing cloud and breeze will lift the fog into low cloud with only the highest routes affected by poorer visibility.

Winter fayre

Staff and volunteers at Lydford Gorge are organising a Winter Fayre on Sunday 30 November between 11am and 3pm, to encourage shoppers to buy local produce and gifts for the forthcoming Christmas season.

Sarah Hortop, Retail Manager at Lydford Gorge, says: "It’s very exciting – I have worked at Lydford Gorge for 27 years and this is the first time we have held an event like this. We hope it will encourage everyone to not only buy locally-grown seasonal produce that will add real quality to their Christmas, but also get out and about in the beautiful winter countryside."

Exmouth receives double planning boost

Planning approval was secured yesterday (18 November) at East Devon District Council’s Development Management Committee for improvements to Mamhead Slipway and for the construction of a new building on Camperdown Terrace to be used by Exmouth Sea Cadets.

These decisions provide a major boost to the regeneration of Exmouth seafront and the start of the proposed development of Camperdown Creek.

The redevelopment of Mamhead Slipway follows its closure on safety grounds. The new, improved slipway will be realigned and enlarged with better vehicle manoeuvring.

Police launch murder inquiry in Barnstaple

Devon and Cornwall police has launched a murder investigation in Barnstaple.

A murder investigation was launched following the discovery of the body of a 59 year old woman at a property in Barnstaple, North Devon on Monday 17th November.

Officers attended a property in Sunflower Road, Barnstaple on Monday 17th November at 2.20pm after a call from the ambulance service.

The death was initially treated as unexplained but following enquires a 38 year old local man was arrested during the evening on Tuesday 18th November on suspicion of murder.

Allergy awareness workshop

There's still time for people in the catering business to book a place on a workshop looking at new legislation involving allergens in food.

New regulations become law from December for the way restaurants, pubs, cafes inform customers about the allergens contained in meals or snacks.

Exeter City Council is running a Food information for Consumers/Allergy Awareness workshop on Tuesday (25 November) from 10am to 12 noon. The cost of the course is £10 per delegate.
