Campaigners have launched a high-stakes bid to secure the future of Devon's Dartmoor Zoo, immortalised in the Hollywood Movie “We Bought a Zoo” starring Matt Damon.
The zoo, on the southern slopes of England’s last wilderness area, was bought in 2006 by journalist Benjamin Mee who wrote a book about his struggle to bring it back from the brink of ruin, inspire his family and save the animals while grieving the death of his young wife.

Help Dartmoor National Park Archaeologists and Rangers look after prehistoric stone rows in a weekend of conservation work on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November.
Dartmoor’s landscape is among the richest in western Europe in terms of its archaeological remains. Dartmoor contains the longest stone row in the world and has the greatest number of archaeological sites out of all the UK National Parks. In fact 60% of all stone rows to be found in England are on Dartmoor and 1/3 of all stone rows in the UK and Brittany are on Dartmoor.
Christmas shoppers are being offered free parking after 5pm in Exeter City Council run pay and display car parks.
The offer runs from Thursday 20 November until Wednesday 24 December.
Those parking prior to 5pm will only be required to purchase a ticket until 5pm, whilst for those arriving after this time parking will be absolutely free.

An eBay seller from Exmouth who was convicted of supplying fake and unsafe cosmetic products has been ordered to pay almost £25,000 following a financial investigation into the profits made from the sales under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Police are currently dealing with three separate collisions on the A38 Plymouth to Exeter road.
A woman was treated at the scene following a single vehicle collision on the Exeter bound A38 near Rattery. The collision took place at 11.20am and police, ambulance crews and the fire service attended scene. She was taken to Derriford Hospital with a shoulder injury.

Devon residents are being asked to mark European Antibiotics Awareness Day (November 18) by adding their pledge to those of over 4,000 antibiotic guardians, in an effort to help slow the resistance and cut the use of unnecessary antibiotics.
