Exeter care home celebrates National Dog Day

Barchester’s Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter invited the local community and their pooches into their home to celebrate National Dog Day on August 25th, without a doubt one of the best days of the year!

Residents and staff put together Doggy Party Bags which included a variety of yummy treats and tennis balls, and the Chef made some delicious cakes and biscuits for the humans. Everyone sat together in the garden having a wonderful time. Lots of cuddles were had and lots of treats were given to the lucky pooches.

Work starts on highly anticipated Cranbrook Town Centre

Construction of the new Cranbrook town centre is due to start on Tuesday 30th August.

The consortium of developers, Henry Davidson, Hallam Land Management, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon will start work on a supermarket, high street shops with homes above, a town square and a children’s day nursery.

Word Play: New dates released

InExeter are pleased to announce further Word Play event dates.

The Exeter-based Cash Converters store has announced a move from its former location on Sidwell Street to a new premise at Guildhall Shopping Centre.

The LTA’s Wheelchair Tennis Initiative is set to arrive at Exeter Tennis Centre on Sunday 27 August , as the search for the next big stars of the game continues.

Exeter children’s charity shop celebrates grand reopening

Jelly, a charity shop in Exeter selling low cost, preloved children’s clothes, toys and books, has celebrated its grand reopening after refurbishment.

Part of local charity, Exeter Community Initiatives, the Jelly shop was officially opened by Jelly Bear. This week Stagecoach South West are marking the 20th year of it’s oldest operational bus an ALX400 Trident, fleet number 17701, with a special in service birthday party. The event has been organised by Stagecoach South West Exeter driver, Damien Gardner who has a particular soft spot for the vehicle. Customer’s will be treated to birthday cake, a host of goodie bags plus get to see the bus kitted out with decorations!

The local branch of sight loss charity Guide Dogs is urgently appealing for a volunteer assistant treasurer to join the Exeter fundraising group. This role is vital for the group to continue, as it involves banking money raised from collections to help raise much-needed funds.

No specific expertise is required, and full training is given. This role will work alongside the current long-serving volunteer who is stepping down very soon.

Guide Dogs relies on donations to keep its vital services running, and activity is just picking up again after the impact of the pandemic...
