Do you know this man? Police appeal after Exeter burglary

Police investigating a burglary have released footage of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

It happened at Exeter Fried Chicken, St Thomas Centre, Cowick Street, between 1.30am and 1.40am on Monday 4 July.

Property and cash were taken, along with a charity collection tin.

Police investigating the incident would like to identify the man in the footage as they believe he may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Staff from Berry Recruitment Group (BRG) raised almost £2,500 for the mental health charity MIND – by travelling 421 miles.

The mileage is the distance between the group’s Cornwall and Darlington branches and staff were encouraged to cover that distance in any way they liked.

They walked, ran and cycled and the group – headquartered in St Albans, Herts, with branches in Truro and Exeter - donated a pound for every mile covered.

7,500 people a day have visited Powderham Castle to experience Nature Valley Gone Wild Festival over the past four days. Offering an adventurous alternative to a weekend away, the festival has proven to be a huge success.

The festival, co-founded by adventurer Bear Grylls, came back with a bang for it’s second year. There were happy faces and glow sticks all round as crowds danced to Reef, The Darkness, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Script, Ella Eyre and Ministry Of Sound Orchestra on the main stage late into the night.

The only tech business support programme for the whole of the South West of England is launching for its second year, after helping companies secure £1m.

Tech South West StartUp Studio 2021 saw the likes of Paranimo, Eate, Groundwaves, Milbotix and a clutch of other early stage pre-seed companies go on to raise £1m of grants and investment since completing the programme - with some still actively fund-raising; seeking another £1m!

Appeal after collision in Exeter

Police investigating a road traffic collision in Alphington, Exeter, involving a car and a pedestrian, are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a grey Ford Focus and a female pedestrian in Church Road, Alphington, at around 8.45am on Friday 26 August.

As a result of the collision, the pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, sustained life changing injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

There’s just over a month left to apply for free trees from Devon County Council.

Devon County Council is offering free packs of trees to landowners and communities within Devon, thanks to the Emergency Tree Fund granted by The Woodland Trust.

Each pack will contain 45 trees, comprising three types of native broadleaved tree commonly found throughout the county.

A total of 3,150 trees were planted by landowners across Devon who took part in the scheme last year, which also supported The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee...
