It’s easy to assume that domestic abuse is an issue that only affects partners or ex-partners within a relationship. However, an increasingly more common form of abuse, with potentially devastating results, is set to challenge those inherent beliefs.

Since 2011, in Devon alone, there have been two domestic homicide cases where the murderer is in fact the victim’s child. The child in question is not a young adolescent, but a grown-up adult child in their 20s or 30s.

£500,000 reconstruction scheme for Trow Hill

A major £500,000 investment to reconstruct the A3052 near Sidmouth will get underway in January.

Trow Hill will be reconstructed and resurfaced between Steven’s Cross and Dunscombe Lane, as part of a seven week programme of essential maintenance unveiled by Devon County Council.

Ahead of the resurfacing work, drainage improvements are programmed to start from Monday 4 January 2016. This is anticipated to take three weeks to complete.

Mill Water School’s new £8 million building has been nationally recognised for its excellence.

We will start early today, with the aim of seeing flocks of waders at high tide at the Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve. In the afternoon we will visit the new nature reserve, which is managed by the WWT.
