Exeter £E15 becomes history in 2016

The Exeter £E15 note, featuring Jack Nowell of Exeter Chiefs has been popular with collectors and fans in Devon and further afield, with buyers from Italy, France, the USA, Slovenia and Australia.

The note is valid for purchases in participating businesses until December 31st 2015.

"If you have an Exeter Fifteen Pound note tucked away that you were planning to spend it’s time to do it now!" said Gill Westcott, one of the Exeter Pound team.

"You could use it at any of 130 local independent traders. And where else would you find a £15 note?"

Seasonal concert with a traditional twist

Wren Music is bringing together five choirs and one of its youth groups, to present a seasonal winter celebration of singing this year. There will be over 100 singers, mince pies, mulled wine and a Christmas hamper raffle all in the lovely setting of St. David’s Church Exeter.

The event takes place on Saturday 19th December and the concert begins at 7.30pm. Admission is by donation and the proceeds of the night will go towards Wren’s youth programme.

2015 has been another fantastic year for Crediton based agents, Helmores, and now a national award sees them crowned Best Single Office Estate Agency in the South West at The Sunday Times Estate Agency of the Year Awards - for the third time.

Crimestoppers plays key role in Devon and Cornwall

Figures released by Crimestoppers on Tuesday 15 December have revealed that the charity passed on nearly 2,000 pieces of information to Devon and Cornwall Police and other law enforcement agencies in the region in the last year.

Some of these related to the most serious of crimes, including murder, rape, human trafficking, robbery and drugs supply. Just under 200 people were arrested and charged with an assortment of criminal offences as a result of the information.

Woman seriously hurt in Exmouth collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision that has left one woman in a serious condition.

Just after 10am on Wednesday 16th December, a collision occurred on Hulham Road Exmouth, when a Citroen C4 travelling towards the junction with Phillips Avenue left the road and collided with a stone wall.

The driver, a local woman in her 70s was unharmed, however her passenger, an 87-year-old woman suffered serious back injuries described as life threatening and was air lifted to Southmead Hospital Bristol, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

325 years of loyal service from Nuffield Health Exeter staff

Twenty-two employees of Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital, with a combined 325 years of service between them, have picked up long service awards marking their 10, 15, 20 and 35 year anniversaries.

New buses for Exeter Park and Ride

Stagecoach South West today confirmed that it will be launching a new fleet of buses for its busiest Park & Ride route in Exeter.

Starting from 4th January 2016 the Red Honiton Road Park & Ride will have a fleet of four brand new double decker buses, worth £800,000, all of which will feature free Wi-Fi, allowing customers to connect, share and play on the move. The Red Park and Ride route runs from Honiton Road to the city centre up to every 12 minutes, 7 days a week.

Samaritans offer listening ear over Christmas

Volunteers at the local Exeter-based branch of Samaritans will be on duty across all of Christmas and New Year for anyone who needs someone to listen.

“We know that Christmas isn’t a happy time for everyone. Some people - particularly those on their own, and especially men - find the festive season very difficult” admits Helen Crossfield, director of Exeter, Mid and East Devon branch of Samaritans.
