Exeter Comedy Club is now recognised by comedians as one of the best in the country and probably the very best in the South West.

Regular sell-out shows feature the top stand-up performers on the national circuit in cabaret, everyone gets a seat at a table and tables are reserved for parties of 4 or more.

Princesshay and local charity, Age UK Exeter has raised over £22,000 since the launch of their charity partnership in January 2015.

Age UK Exeter is a local charity serving local people and is part of the Age UK family.

Each year Age UK Exeter connects with over 5,000 older people and directly supports over 1,000 older people every week. It delivers over 30 services and activities across the city weekly and is supported by over 280 volunteers.

Free confidential shredding event

Businesses and residents throughout Exeter are invited to drop off sacks of confidential waste to be shredded free of charge at a one-day event at Exeter City Football Club car park on Thursday 28 January, from 10am to 4pm.

The event is hosted by recycling and waste specialists, Coastal Recycling, who offer a confidential waste shredding service to keep Devon SMEs compliant and safe. They are facilitating the free confidential shredding day to mark European Data Protection Day 2016.

Trees removed to protect Exeter’s Roman Wall

Monday 25th January sees the start of some major tree works on Roman Walk, adjacent to Exeter’s Roman wall.

The works form part of a broader project to prevent tree root damage to the Scheduled Ancient Monument and further enhance this area of Princesshay.

Woodbury-based Dartmoor Tree Surgeons will be undertaking the works over four days, with some of the larger sections of timber being dismantled with the help of a crane on Wednesday 27th January.

Exeter School artists prepare for professional art exhibition

Pupils studying AS Art and Design are currently preparing for an exhibition of their work, based on the theme of ‘Decay’, in the Brook Gallery in Exeter, from 25 to 29 January.

Exeter School will be the first school to display pupils’ work in ‘The White Room’ in the Gallery as part of their new educational programme.

Adopt SW prioritises search for adoptive families

Adopt South West prepares to re-launch its TV campaign this week with emphasis falling on encouraging those who would consider adopting ‘priority’ children to come forward.

The appeal comes as Somerset County Council joins the partnership alongside Barnardo’s, Devon County Council, and Families for Children, Plymouth City Council and Torbay Council, to promote adoption.
