The Seaside Train book launches

Starcross Primary School held a special launch last week for the publication of “The Seaside Train”, a book celebrating the unique and very scenic Riviera Line which links Exeter, Starcross, Newton Abbot and Paignton.

This was an EU Interreg Project, led by the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, which brought more frequent trains and station improvements to the Riviera Line and involved...

Grecians go four wins in a row on the road

Goals from Jake Taylor and Ollie Watkins made it four away wins on the spin and seven unbeaten for Exeter City as the Grecians battled to a 2-0 victory over Crawley Town at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Taylor’s goal in the twenty-eighth minute was the least that City had deserved after a rampant first-half display. The hosts came stronger in the second period with Bobby Olejnik called into action several times, but the Grecians weathered the storm before Watkins sealed the points with sixteen minutes remaining.

There were three changes to the City team that made it six...

They say the council’s latest public messaging on recycling suggest a massive increase in the amount of waste being recycled to 49%, while a recent scrutiny committee report says recycling rates in the city have actually fallen in the last year to 34%.

The discrepancy is apparently due to a new way of measuring recycling rates, which Greens say is being used to mask a worsening situation.

Diana Moore, lead Green Party candidate for Exeter St David’s ward said: “This is pure...
