As from Wednesday 20 April 2016, East Devon District Council has formally adopted the Community Infrastructure Levy charging schedule (CIL).
The charge will come into effect on 1 September 2016, allowing the council time to establish an internal process for the collection and administration of the levy. It will also give applicants and developers a reasonable lead time to become aware of the charges that will apply from that date.
The CIL is a planning charge, introduced by the Planning Act 2008, which local authorities can choose to levy on new developments in their area...
In advance of the EU referendum in June, Exeter Cathedral is hosting a discussion evening with former government minister Lord Newbury. The evening event aim to offer a space for in-depth discussion about issues connected with Europe, rather than a question and answer session, said Canon Anna Norman-Walker, who has organised the evening. She said: “Lord Newby will put forward his views on Europe, and discuss how his Christian faith has shaped those views. But he wants to discuss and listen to others, and the evening is intended not as a ‘question time’ but as a chance for people to voice...
Following five years in the West End, sell-out runs worldwide and a smash hit tour last year (packed with mischief, bad behaviour and political incorrectness) Avenue Q comes to Exeter Northcott Theatre at the end of May.
Featuring the naughtiest puppets in town, brought hilariously to life by an ensemble cast, Avenue Q is a Tony Award winning musical about growing up, dreaming big and finding your purpose in life.
Created by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez (Co-creator of Book of Mormon and writer of the songs for Disney’s Frozen) Avenue Q is an irresistibly charming musical...
It’s time to dig out those Union flags for the popular Proms at Bicton Park, East Budleigh on Friday 22 July.

More than 800 people attended the last Proms in 2014 raising money for local charity Hospiscare.
The Proms will include songs from musicals and popular operatic arias to be performed by India’...
Den Miller is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumental musician and entertaining solo performer, whose fifth studio album, A Headful of Fancies, was released to great reviews in April 2015. Den is both an accomplished guitarist and pianist, often using a loop pedal to play both at once, and also plays harmonica and drums. Den has an impressive vocal range and a love of singing harmony, something which the loop pedal also...

A Devon-based orchestra has left its usual habitat of rehearsal studios and concert halls behind to take part in a very different kind of photoshoot promoting its latest concert.
Members of the Exeter Symphony Orchestra recently went wild to promote ‘A Concert for Wildlife’ which takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday 16th July at Exeter Cathedral.
The concert, which is being generously supported by South West Water, aims to raise funds for the charity Devon Wildlife Trust. It seemed only natural to the organisers that the musicians should pose with their instruments in the...
