Sponsored Sleepover Raises £23,000 for Exeter's YMCA

A sponsored sleep out in Exeter city centre on Saturday night raised over £23,000 for Exeter YMCA’s work with local homeless young people.

180 people took part in the sleep out, called ‘Sleep Easy’, battling against lows of three degrees Celsius and torrential rain. Participants included six members from the Gilbert Stephens Young Professional Network who raised over £1,000 for the charity. Gilbert Stephens were also the main sponsors of the event.

Exeter YMCA has received £30,000 in unrestricted funding from Leeds Building Society to create supportive, inclusive and energising communities in which young people can truly belong.

Exeter YMCA is one of the oldest YMCA’s in the world. It believes everyone can experience fullness of life in body, mind, and spirit. The charity’s support is orientated around meeting young people’s needs, including helping them to find and maintain accommodation, as well as addressing their mental health needs and sense of identity.

Y-Walk: Join Exeter YMCA for a trek across Dartmoor

Join Exeter YMCA for an 11 mile trek across the rugged and spectacular paths of Dartmoor, from Okehampton to Postbridge. At the end relax with a meal at the historic East Dart Hotel (included in registration fee).

By taking on this challenge you'll raise much needed awareness and funds to help young homeless people across Devon have a brighter future.
