Chiefs side to face Gloucester

Rob Baxter has called on his Exeter Chiefs side to show their 'fighting qualities' when they tackle rivals Gloucester tomorrow night in Round 13 of this season's Gallagher Premiership at Kingsholm (7:45pm).

Over a month has passed since the Chiefs last took to the field in top-flight action - that day they won 14-9 at home to Bristol Bears to maintain their position as the divisional frontrunner - and Director of Rugby Baxter has spoken of the excitement that exists within the camp ahead of this fourth meeting of the season against the Cherry & Whites.

So far, the...

Hill and Hepburn agree new deals at Chiefs

Rob Baxter will tell you that his retention plans often outweigh that of a huge recruitment drive, such is his desire to ensure that continuity runs smoothly for both him and his players at Exeter Chiefs.

Having already ensured a number of the club’s star names are locked down for the next few years, the Chiefs Director of Rugby has spoken of his delight after two more first-team stars pledged their immediate futures to the Gallagher Premiership club.

Forwards Alec Hepburn, 25, and Jonny Hill, 24, are the latest to put pen to paper, both agreeing terms on two-year contract...

Trio agree new deals at Exeter Chiefs

Rob Baxter’s forward-planning is gathering pace after the Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby last night confirmed three more of his current squad have agreed new deals with the Gallagher Premiership club.

Long-serving back Phil Dollman, together with centre Ollie Devoto and winger Olly Woodburn, are the latest names to confirm they are extending their stays at Sandy Park.

Dollman – who is celebrating 10 years at the Chiefs this season – has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal, while Devoto and Woodburn have each signed two-year contracts.

The news comes just days...

Chiefs side to face Gloucester

Rob Baxter says his Exeter Chiefs side must use the disappointment of their European campaign so far to make them a better side moving forward.

Hopes were high at the start of the season that the Devonians would really attack their rivals in this season’s Heineken Champions Cup. However, that has not proved the case and after three rounds the Chiefs are still without a win and sat bottom of Pool Two.

An opening round draw with Munster at Sandy Park has since been followed with defeats to Castres and Gloucester, the latter coming just last Saturday when the Cherry &...

Hogg 'excited' about Chiefs move

Stuart Hogg says he’s “excited” at the challenge that lies ahead after he today sealed a move to Gallagher Premiership outfit Exeter Chiefs. The 26-year-old will head to Sandy Park at the start of next season on a two-year deal, bringing to a close a hugely successful spell with Glasgow Warriors. The Scotland and British Lions full-back is Rob Baxter’s first confirmed signing ahead of the 2019/20 season, but his arrival will be seen as significant one for the Devonians, who have established themselves as one of the leading clubs not just in England, but in Europe as well in recent years. “...

Exeter Chiefs have agreed to release Michele Campagnaro from his playing contract with the Gallagher Premiership club from October 31. The Italian international, who joined the club in the summer of 2015 from Benetton Treviso, will then become a free agent. The 25-year-old back, who was part of the match-day 23 when the Chiefs won the Aviva Premiership title in 2017, has made 27 first team appearances during his time at Sandy Park, scoring nine tries in the process.

Exeter Chief’s HITZ participant Aidan Seal has been presented with the Academic Achiever Award at the star-studded 2018 HITZ Awards, as he works towards his goal of joining the Navy. HITZ, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, is Premiership Rugby’s award-winning education and employability programme which, with the help of its funders Land Rover, Wooden Spoon and Comic Relief, works with more than 2,000 14-18 year olds across England every year, and is delivered nationally by England’s 13 professional member rugby clubs. And to celebrate the hard work of those involved in the...

Chiefs side to face Castres

Rob Baxter insists the way his side finished last week’s Heineken Champions Cup opener against Munster must now be the starting point for his players ahead of tomorrow’s Round Two clash with Castres (2pm). With little to choose between the Chiefs and Munster in horrendous conditions at Sandy Park, it was the current Gallagher Premiership leaders who were pressing hard in the dying minutes. Up against a gale force wind, Baxter’s side came within a whisker of claiming all four points against the Irish province. Sadly, a knock-on in the last action of the game ended their hopes of a famous...

Chiefs side to face Munster

Domestically Exeter Chiefs have yet to put a foot wrong in terms on on-field success. Six wins from six games, 29 points out of a possible 30, it’s little wonder that Director of Rugby Rob Baxter is walking around with a smile on his face. Tomorrow, however, the Chiefs will embark on their latest European adventure, welcoming for the first time to Sandy Park, Irish visitors Munster in Round One of this season’s Heineken Champions Cup (3:15pm). A capacity crowd will be expected for this inaugural match-up between these two modern-day heavyweights, both of whom will be looking to deliver a...
