Devon Food Heroes Peter Gorton (Master Chef of Great Britain) and Jim Fisher (Exeter Cookery School) joined other local hospitality professionals and catering students from South Devon College and City College Plymouth at Kitley House Hotel and Restaurant, near Yealmpton this week (Monday, June 24th).

The special event, organised by The Chefs’ Forum, offered inspiring BBQ demonstrations and a great networking opportunity for South West hospitality professionals.

On the menu at Kitley House - a summer gathering of chefs and hospitality pros

Local chefs and hospitality professionals will come together with catering students from South Devon College and City College Plymouth on June 24th at Kitley House Hotel and Restaurant, near Yealmpton.

The special event, organised by The Chefs’ Forum, will see chefs and front-of-house staff from across the county rub shoulders with catering suppliers and aspiring college students. Billed as ‘A Chefs’ Summer BBQ’, the day will offer inspiring butchery demonstrations and a great networking opportunity for hospitality professionals from Devon and neighbouring counties.

Local adoption charity launches the Atrium

Families for Children, local adoption agency and charitable trust, were joined by patron and adoptee Michael Caines, MBE, to officially launch their new Centre for Adoption Support, the Atrium.

The launch, which was hosted by Lucy and Jim Fisher at Exeter Cookery School, welcomed guests from local authorities, adopted families, funders of the project and service users. They heard how the new look service will enable the Charity to provide vital new adoption support services in the region.

Game put firmly on the menu at cookery school

Exeter Cookery School, the new culinary hotspot that opened on the city’s picturesque quayside this summer, is opening its doors to the public on Sunday 20th November for a free event to herald the start of British Game Week (21st-27th November).

The Game Awareness Day, which runs from 10am to 4pm, is aimed at promoting the use of game such as wild rabbit, pheasant, partridge and duck on the menus of local restaurants and equally with home cooks.
