Old photos discovered in Killerton’s roof inspire call for memories for time capsule

A collection of old camera negatives tucked away inside the roof of Killerton House, near Exeter in Devon, have been discovered during a major roof repair project.

Over 30 negatives, possibly hidden by the Acland family in the 1920s to be found years later, have inspired staff to create a time capsule and the National Trust property is calling for people to send in their memories of Killerton to be included.

Children’s wards across the country are being offered the chance to have a space in their facility transformed into a state-of-the-art cinema room, complete with all the latest technology.

This year a bumper crop of apples are expected to be harvested in time for the annual Killerton Cider and Apple Festival on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October.

Devon Air Ambulance secures funding for life-saving journeys

Devon Air Ambulance Trust has secured funding for potentially life-saving journeys over the next 12 months – thanks to a renewed charity partnership with Thomson Airways. Staff at Thomson Airways’ Exeter Airport base have donated almost £13,000 since the partnership began in September 2015, and the airline has confirmed donations will continue for a further year. A leading South West mining lawyer has issued a warning to mine owners following an incident where a group of teenagers had to be rescued from a disused mine in Wiltshire after playing Pokemon Go.
