East Devon District Council has reluctantly decided to move the venue of the Feniton ‘super inquiry’ because the initial location is not big enough for the eight-day hearing.
After appeals by three developers against EDDC’s refusal of planning permission for their proposals, the Planning Inspectorate decided to combine appeal hearings for three Feniton sites into a single event.

A major public inquiry into the East Devon’s new Local Plan will begin in February.
The Draft Local Plan submitted by East Devon District Council (EDDC) includes detailed expectations for the future of the districts seven towns.
It also covers many issues in the area including Housing and Affordable Housing, Employment, Tourism and Retail, Climate Change, Gypsies & Travellers and the Natural Environment. A 19-day examination of the plan by Government Inspector Anthony Thickett will air the details of the plan to the public.
Essential geotechnical and environmental investigations will be taking place around, and under, the Mamhead Slipway in Exmouth from Monday 2 December.
This investigation work is expected to last two to three weeks and is necessary as preparation for the longer term replacement or improvement of the slipway, a key project within the Exmouth Vision.
Engineers will drill boreholes through the slipway to gain information about the makeup of the geology beneath the seabed.

FOLLOWING the Council’s decision in July to relocate, four locations have now been short-listed as the possible home for East Devon District Council’s new offices. The short-list was produced by elected Members scoring the 15 possible sites against a set of desired outcomes (see bulleted tick list below).
Councillors were briefed on the locations – Cranbrook, Skypark, Winslade Park and Heathpark – at the end of October and a stakeholder group heard about the options at a meeting today (Friday 8 November).
East Devon District Council’s Cabinet yesterday has agreed to support Exmouth Rowing Club to move into the old lifeboat station adjacent to their existing premises on Queen’s Drive.
This will allow the council to move forward with its plans for the regeneration of Queen’s Drive.
The club will be charged a reduced rent for the new premises to be reviewed after five years. Refurbishment of the building to bring it up to date is to be funded by the club through an Inspired Facilities grant from Sport England.

That’s the message from EDDC’s Countryside Team as they invite people to fill the limited spaces on a hedge-laying day on 1st November 2013.
Much of the work carried out by Countryside staff and volunteers is practical and hands-on at the nature reserves across the district. Sites are managed with people and wildlife as the priorities and the team are keen to keep traditional practices alive as far as possible.

The seven-year-olds, with their teacher Mrs Hammond, spent a morning at EDDC’s Knowle headquarters learning about Planning and Development as part of a school topic.
