Stuart Reid has been a trustee of The Donkey Sanctuary since 1996 and Chair since 2007. New attractions at The Donkey Sanctuary this half term

The Donkey Sanctuary will be running its Best Friends Forever Trail over the February half term (Saturday 10 - Sunday 18 February) and showcasing its new visitor attractions.

Through a range of interactive exhibits, visitors will discover how The Donkey Sanctuary works to improve the welfare of donkeys and mules around the world and the communities that rely on them. Visitors can take a trip back in time and explore the history of donkeys and the origins of The Donkey Sanctuary itself. 'Bird-ringing’ demonstration to be held at The Donkey Sanctuary

Now that spring has sprung The Donkey Sanctuary is offering bird-lovers a very special breakfast ‘bird ringing’ demonstration to show how birds are tagged so that they can be identified and tracked and so that we can learn more about their fascinating habits.

Participants can enjoy an introductory talk followed by the chance to watch licensed ringers catch, tag and record some woodland birds. Maybe even a beautiful woodpecker, like the one pictured. There may be the opportunity to release the birds.

This National Knitting Week (14-20 October) international animal welfare charity, The Donkey Sanctuary, is seeking knitters to take up the challenge of creating a donkey to raise funds for donkeys and mules worldwide. Novice knitters or super stitchers are invited to download a free donkey knitting pattern from The Donkey Sanctuary’s website and turn their knitting needles towards producing a herd of knitted donkeys.
