Shearings partners with SW Coast Path to attract walkers

The Shearings Hotel Group, an award-winning UK-based hotel operator with hotels all along the South West Coast Path, has teamed up with the South West Coast Path Association to help guests enjoy the coastline and offer great breaks for walkers.

SW housing market dips for first time in 13 months

Interest from South West house buyers has dropped for the first time since February 2015 according to the latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Residential Market Survey.

Following the buy-to-let rush that preceded the 1 April tax rise deadline and with increased uncertainty surrounding the upcoming EU referendum interest from buyers dropped in April with 17% more chartered surveyors reporting a fall rather than a rise in demand.

Exeter City Supporters Trust welcomes lottery funding for history project

The Exeter City Supporters Trust has welcomed a massive boost to its plans for celebrating the history of St James Park, home of Exeter City Football Club since the early 20th century.

A bid to document, preserve and share the history of the ground, submitted by the University of Exeter working in partnership with the Trust’s History Group, has been successful in attracting grants of £29,100 with the main contribution coming from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education English teacher, Deb Thomas is one of the top six teachers in the UK in line to win a Pearson Teaching Award for 2016 Teacher of Year.

Deb won the Silver Award for Excellence in Special Needs Teaching 2016 and now goes on to compete as a finalist for Teacher of the Year against hundreds of teaching professionals from schools across the UK.
