Pets across Devon and Somerset now have a greater chance of surviving household fires, thanks to new oxygen masks specially designed for animals that are being carried on selected fire engines. Fore Street, Exeter, will be closed to through traffic for three weeks while South West Water repairs a collapsed sewer.
Fore Street will be closed between Bartholomew Street West and Market Street from Monday 19 September to Friday 7 October with diversions in place.

A green Diamondback ‘Remix’ BMX similar to the one pictured was stolen from a back garden in the St. Thomas area of Exeter between 12th and 15th August.

Exeter City Council has unveiled proposals for new car parking tariffs designed to encourage people to stay longer in the city.
Motorists parking in the city centre's three 'Premier' car parks - Guildhall, Mary Arches and John Lewis - will see a reduced rate if they stay for longer. Four hours will come down from £6.50 to £5 and from £11.80 to £7 for a six hour stay.
Those parking in short stay car parks will see a reduction in charges across the board. A one hour stay will be reduced from £1.20 to £1, while a four hour stay will go down from £5.70 to £4.
