Chelsea sign Exeter City teenager Ethan Ampadu

Exeter City are currently in negotiations with Chelsea over a fee for Ethan Ampadu after the 16-year-old put pen to paper on a deal at Stamford Bridge.

Ethan, who made 13 appearances for City’s first team last season, was free to talk to other clubs having yet to sign scholarship forms at St James Park.

Councillors asked to back increased budget for Exeter Bus Station redevelopment

Exeter City Councillors are being asked to back an increased budget to ensure delivery of a new Exeter Bus Station and state-of-the-art new leisure complex.

The developments, funded by Exeter City Council, are seen as crucial to the overall £115m redevelopment of this key city centre site, in partnership with the Crown Estate.

Members of the authority’s Leisure Complex and Bus Station Programme Board are being recommended to approve an uplift of £7.67m in the previously approved budget for the leisure complex and bus station.

Tickets on sale for Classics Galore!

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (July 1) for another Classics Galore! concert at the University of Exeter Great Hall on Saturday November 18.

It’s the sixth time this popular gala event has been staged in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.

As well as providing superb entertainment, Classics has now raised nearly £70,000 for FORCE.

The profits from this year’s concert will be set aside for new equipment that is advancing the treatment of women with cancer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Revised schedule continues on Sunday Dartmoor service

Rail services on the Okehampton Sunday Dartmoor Service will continue to operate with a revised schedule until further notice.

Track speed restrictions remain in place between Coleford Junction and Okehampton, which requires the amended timetable.

The Summer Sunday Services, run by Great Western Railway (GWR) and funded by Devon County Council, will also continue to start and terminate at Exeter St Davids rather than Exeter Central.

Haven are thrilled to announce that Devon Cliffs Holiday Park in Exmouth have donated £5,144 through the sales of 5p carrier bags in Kent.

Haven has been working in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society since 2016 to help protect the shores and marine wildlife in the UK. Police appeal after unprovoked attack on teenager in Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses to an unprovoked assault where four young men targeted a 17-year-old boy in Exeter.

The teenager was on his bicycle in Pinhoe Road on Monday lunchtime [26 June] when he was set upon by a group of similar aged boys by Polsloe Bridge.

The offenders repeatedly punched and kicked the Exeter boy after knocking him to the ground.

One of them then attempted to steal the bicycle, which was damaged during the incident, before they all ran off towards Hamlyn Lane Playing Fields.

Aspirin reduces risk of pre-eclampsia in pregnant women

Taking a low-dose aspirin before bed can reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia, which can cause premature birth and, in extreme cases, maternal and foetal death.

A trial, led by Professor Kypros Nicolaides, Professor of Foetal Medicine at King’s College London, Dr Liona Poon of King’s College, London with Professor David Wright of the University of Exeter, found that administering low-dose aspirin (150 mg) led to a 62% reduction in the rate of pre-term preeclampsia, resulting in delivery before 37 weeks.
