A new pedestrian and cycle bridge just north of Junction 29 of the M5 at Exeter opened for public use on Friday afternoon (February 2).
The 60-metre Tithebarn Lane bridge was first lifted into place in November. Since then contractors have been finishing work on the bridge and constructing and surfacing the cycle path approaching the bridge. The £3.4 million stadium redevelopment at St James Park, the home of Exeter City FC, is entering the next phase in the programme of works. Work is progressing well on a major stabilisation scheme on the A377 at Chapel Downs in Crediton.
Essential repairs and reconstruction work started earlier this month on a 30 metre stretch, between Queen Elizabeth Drive and Higher Road, where the edge of the road is cracking due to an unstable embankment. The scheme is on schedule to be completed by 12 February.
