Wilberforce, a seven year old Labrador Retriever, belonging to Neil Parish, MP for Tiverton and Honiton, just missed out on a place on the podium in the 22nd annual Westminster Dog of the Year competition.

The competition, organised by the Kennel Club and Dogs Trust, took place on Thursday (23rd October), in Victoria Tower Gardens, Westminster. Wilberforce showed dogged determination as he battled it out amongst 21 paw-litical opponents. Journalists to enjoy Devon heaven

A Visit Devon led tour of the county sets off next week - 16 September to 18 September - bringing five national journalists to the region who will visit a selection of Arts & Crafts businesses.

Survey reveals Devon is struggling to stay safe in the sun

New survey results1released today by LEO Pharma as part of the Know Your SkinTM campaign warn that Devon residents might have a dangerous lack of knowledge when it comes to keeping safe in the sun, and that they could be ignoring potential markers for an increased risk of skin cancer.

The figures suggest that 9 out of 10 people in Devon spend time gardening but, of those, nearly half say they never or rarely apply SPF 30+ sun cream when doing so. One in three say that this is because they don’t think it is necessary to and nearly a third because they don’t spend enough time...

Conman uses 'fake life' to steal hundreds from Devon women

A conman who duped Exeter and Devon women for money by infiltrating their lives, has pleaded guilty to seven charges of fraud and theft between July and December last year.

Timothy Giles, 46, an unemployed former toilet cleaner, concocted a kaleidoscope of lies, claiming to be an airline pilot, a fire fighter, and a policeman to lure women into trusting him.

The charges he faced included ‘dishonestly making a false representation, namely pretending to be a qualified airline pilot, intending to make a money gain.’
