Since April 2009 Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service have attended domestic fire incidents causing eight fatalities within the West Devon area. Richard Lane, 68, was among the first people in the country to receive a transplant of insulin-producing islet cells in 2005. Following three transplants, he was the first person in the UK with Type 1 diabetes to come off insulin altogether.

This month sees a jump in new seller average asking prices of 3.5% (+£8,310), the biggest increase for eight months, with a regional boost of 4.8% (+£21,834) and a 6.2% increase on last year's prices. EMERGENCY crews say they are amazed a Devon man survived a plane crash in which three people died.
Michael Hudson is recovering in hospital after the nine-seater Fly Montserrat aircraft he was a passenger in came down shortly after take-off in Antigua.
The pilot, Captain Jason Forbes and 29-year-old Annya Duncan, of Jamaica, were killed on impact.
The other passenger, 57-year-old Sandrama Poligadu, of Guyana, was taken to hospital but died shortly after.
Mr Hudson is understood to have suffered a broken leg and arm as well as cuts and bruises.
