Police appeal for information following robbery in Dawlish

Police are investigating a robbery at the Golden Sands Holiday complex in Dawlish, which occurred in the early hours of Monday 27 August. The offenders, believed to be three or four in total and wearing balaclavas, forced members of staff to open a safe containing a large quantity of cash.

One member of staff was assaulted and sustained a fractured jaw. Police are keen to trace a vehicle that was seen close to the holiday park which has been identified as a silver Peugeot 106 vehicle, registration number S186 AAW. Police seek whereabouts of missing 'high risk' Exeter man

Richard Henderson, born 23 August 1970, went missing on 8 August 2013 from his home address in Sandford Walk, Exeter. His neighbours believed he was due to go camping on 7 August 2013 and he may be in possession of a tent and camping equipment.

Mr Henderson is described as a white male, about 5ft 11in tall, of slim build with short cropped fair hair, he has links to Exmouth, Exeter and the Dawlish areas.

Any campsites across Devon and Cornwall may have been occupied and Police would urge their employees to take note of Mr Henderson’s image.

The annual Grand Firework display takes place on Thursday 22 August 2013 to get the Bank Holiday weekend off to a great start.

There will be live entertainment from 7.15pm with Mark Price and friends.

Each year this event attracts tens of thousands of people to watch an array of aircraft take to the sky at this award winning air show.

This year the fun runs over two days.

Elderly woman seriously injured after being hit by car in Dawlish

Shortly before midday on Tuesday 9 July, an elderly woman pedestrian who was standing on a pavement was struck by a car that was being driven by an elderly man. The incident took place on Gatehouse Close in Dawlish. Police report that the car, a silver Skoda Fabia, was manoeuvring in the street and for an unknown reason left the road, striking the woman pedestrian before careering through a nearby garden, coming to rest against a nearby property. New footbridge for Dawlish’s Manor Gardens

Residents and visitors to Dawlish are benefiting from a new footbridge built by a team of engineers, designers and surveyors from Teignbridge District Council.

The new 10-metre timber bridge, which passes over Dawlish Water to link to Manor Gardens, replaces a dilapidated and unsafe bridge which was closed 12 months ago because rotting timbers and corroded steel beam supports meant it was too dangerous to keep open.

Dawlish Community College named best secondary school in the South West

Two Devon schools have today been named by the Deputy Prime Minister as the regional winners (South West) of the 2013 Pupil Premium Awards. Dawlish Community College, Dawlish, was named best secondary school and Widey Court Primary School, Plymouth, was named best primary school in the region.
