Exeter's Picturehouse Cinema refurbishment now complete

The repainting and refurbishment of the outside of the Exeter Picturehouse, to coincide with the cinema’s 20th anniversary this October, is now complete.

The final touches were applied this week, including the addition of specially designed huge screen prints of some of the most iconic films of the last 20 years as chosen by staff and regulars, including Amelie, Buena Vista Social Club and The Motorcycle Diaries.

Ahead of all the great family films coming to screens this summer, Vue Entertainment asked the public about their perfect day out with the family.

Unsurprisingly some of the nation’s favourite activities include a day at the beach and the park with their loved ones.

However, 60% of parents in the South West would choose a trip to the cinema with their family over going to the zoo, swimming pool or a theme park - beating the national average. Furthermore when parents in Bristol were asked who they like to visit the cinema with, it was their children who came out on top at 42...

Big Screen in the Park returns to Exeter this summer with not five, but six nights of cinematic magic under the stars.

A different film will be showing on each of the six nights in Northernhay Gardens, from 9-14 August.

With Mexican street food, local ale and ciders and delicious coffees from the BikeCaffe, grab your friends and celebrate the biggest Exeter Big Screen in The Park ever.

Gates open at 7.30pm with films starting at 9pm daily.

Tickets are £5 in advance or £6 on the gate. It costs an additional £1 to bring your own chair chair.

A trip to the cinema could be four times as much depending on where you live, with a ticket for the same film up to £12 more in some parts of the country compared to others, according to a new study by money-saving website www.voucherbox.co.uk .

The study, which looked at prices across the Vue, Odeon and Cineworld chains, compared the cost of a standard ticket for upcoming blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse on the same day and time in nine cities around the UK*. Film fans will be heading to Pavillion in the Park, Okehampton at the end of June as after details were revealed for a new open air cinema festival weekend.

Firm Open Air Film and Chill is set to bring two iconic films to the big screen, an all time favourite Top Gun on Friday 24th June and musical Dirty Dancing to the site on Saturday 25th June.
