The repainting and refurbishment of the outside of the Exeter Picturehouse, to coincide with the cinema’s 20th anniversary this October, is now complete.

The final touches were applied this week, including the addition of specially designed huge screen prints of some of the most iconic films of the last 20 years as chosen by staff and regulars, including Amelie, Buena Vista Social Club and The Motorcycle Diaries.

The designs were put together by Joint Assistant Manager George Barron at the Double Elephant Print Workshop, based at the Phoenix, and are a striking complement to the recently painted cobalt blue outside walls.

New signage has also been put up and a new outside readograph announcing each week’s main film releases.

The repainting and refurbishment has been carried out to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of the Exeter Picturehouse which the cinema celebrates on 11th October 2016.

"It’s a big change and we hope our members and regulars will like it," commented General Manager Andy Botterill.

"The cinema celebrates its 20th Anniversary this October, so we wanted to do something truly memorable and different to mark such a special occasion."

Look out for special 20th anniversary events at the Exeter Picturehouse throughout October including £2 tickets on all main features on Saturday October 8th and a £2 screening of 90s classic Fargo on Friday 7th October.
