Two free, family, drop-in and draw events at Devon Guild this half-term. Enter a special creative space in the gallery where you can draw, design and make a Venetian-style Halloween mask and lace-based patterns for a collective wall decoration. Activities include pattern-making, papercutting, stencilling and projection-tracing, and are inspired by our current exhibition intoLACE as part of the Big Draw Campaign for Drawing 2013.

Childrens' Halloween Half-Term Holiday Cookery Classes

Children aged between 8 and 14 years old, cook up a selection of scrumptious spooky treats and mouth-watering scary dishes with our Fun Kitchen children's cookery classes this halloween half term.

They will be creating some tasty bakes for their breaks, baking their own lunch, plus a family dish to take home at the end of the day!

To fit around parents' busy working lives, children can be dropped off earlier, from 8.30am, and picked up later, until 5.30pm. Parents can relax for a day in the knowledge that their child is taking part in the best wide range of fun...

Mother and children in Braunton helicopter rescue

The police helicopter was involved in the rescue of a mother and her two children who were lost in north Devon on Sunday night.

At about 7.20pm on Sunday (29 September), Devon and Cornwall Police received an emergency call from the mother who was described as "distraught" and "panicking". She was with her ten-year-old and three-year-old children and told police that she was lost on Braunton Burrows.

She had been walking since 6pm and her children were getting cold and upset.

Devon and Cornwall Police say that the woman had been trying to find her way back to her car...

Spookley at Darts Farm

Meet Spookley, a square pumpkin in a round pumpkin patch world at Darts Farm this October.

Children aged four to 12 are invited to spend a fun-filled afternoon on the farm, learning about pumpkin growing and enjoying the story of Spookley the Square Pumpkin, who overcomes bullying through showing kindness to others and making new friends along the way. As you take a walk around the pumpkin patch, children can pick their own pumpkins to decorate in the Darts Farm Teepees and enjoy a range of pumpkin treats and refreshments.

New children's show featuring Henry 'The Fonz' Winkler coming to CBBC

CBBC has commissioned a brand-new comedy drama series, Hank Zipzer , from DHX Media and Walker Productions to be produced by Kindle Entertainment, featuring multi-award winning actor Henry ‘The Fonz’ Winkler.

The 13x30-minute children’s show will air on CBBC in the new year, and is inspired by the book series Hank Zipzer: The World’s Greatest Underachiever , written by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver and published by Walker Books.

Young Singers invited to join Wren Music in Exeter

Children and young people in Exeter can join a new term of fun singing and song-writing as part of Wren Music’s Roots Music School.

Wren Music is Devon’s leading community music education charity and is running two groups in Exeter, offering young people the chance to learn from professional singing leaders. Based at St Sidwell’s Centre, Exeter Singing Roots meets weekly on Thursdays from 5-6.30pm, where 8-16 year olds learn a rich range of songs and harmonies from all over the world, as well as discovering how to write their own.

A war time effort at Killerton

A new exhibition has opened which features details of Broadclyst Primary School’s show stopping performance of 'Keep Calm and Carry On’ at Killerton House in June.

The entertaining promenade performance was developed by the schoolchildren in conjunction with Killerton staff and volunteers and gave the audience a rare chance to see World War II history brought to life in an innovative way. The performances were recorded on video and are now presented alongside displays of photographs, costumes and objects from the play.
