Exeter based Theatre Alibi tours a new production of Michael Morpurgo’s spellbinding and moving I Believe in Unicorns this autumn.

Created for five to 11-year-olds, there are performances for families at Exeter Phoenix (15-17 November).

Adapted by Theatre Alibi Associate Writer Daniel Jamieson, I Believe in Unicorns is proof of the power of stories to transform lives. It tells the story of Tomas Porec who lives in a mountain village in Croatia and hates school and books in equal measure. But when the Unicorn Lady comes to town he is captivated by the tales she tells. Tomas’s new love of stories is not the only thing to change. When disaster strikes stories have the power to pull Tomas’s community together. Theatre Alibi’s imaginative production features a four-strong cast, an intriguing set inspired by paper sculpture, puppetry and thrilling, specially composed live music.

Theatre Alibi last worked with Michael Morpurgo on Why the Whales Came which ran in the West End to great acclaim. In a recent newspaper article he chose Theatre Alibi’s production as his favourite adaptation.

There will be an opportunity to meet Michael at Exeter Phoenix on Saturday 2 November 2 when he’ll be talking about his work and I Believe in Unicorns alongside Theatre Alibi’s Artistic Director Nikki Sved.

Tickets: £9 (£6), family £26
