Noreen Raleigh, 65 from Exeter, has been a volunteer Care Navigator for two years and it all started when she and husband Peter were supported by Hospiscare.

Noreen says, “We were lucky enough to be helped by this wonderful charity. Cycle club takes fundraising efforts to new heights

An Exeter cycle group has raised record amounts of money for its chosen charity this year.

The BGE Cycling Club has donated £2,018 to FORCE Cancer Charity from various activities throughout the last 12 months.

Club members gathered at the charity’s headquarters for their final Cadence Café ride of the year when they presented a cheque for £1,725, plus money raised on the day and topped up to match the year - 2018.

BGE – Beers, Gears and Engineers – was founded by employees at Howmet in Exeter in memory of Colin Hooker, who died from cancer.

Fundraising dinner raises £7,500 to combat homelessness across Exeter

On Friday 12th October YMCA Exeter held its third annual fundraising dinner at Woodbury Park Hotel with guests including The High Sheriff of Devon, Mrs Grania Philips, and Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall Police, Shaun Sawyer.

The Black Tie event was attended by 160 people and through ticket sales, a silent auction and individual pledges, and so far YMCA Exeter have raised £7,500 with donations still being made.

The 2018 Hospiscare Breakfast Run took place in perfect autumn weather at Knightshayes Court, attracting more than 300 participants who are on track to raise over £10,000.

Seven of Hospiscare’s charity shops in Exeter, have joined forces with national careers app Debut and TV fashion expert Amber Butchart and will feature the ‘Dress to Impress for £10’ initiative from Monday 15th October.

The national initiative is being showcased at charity shops across the UK and will help improve job prospects for millions of individuals by providing access to interview outfits for only £10 and educate job seekers on correct interview attire.

A fundraising evening organised by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes has raised more than £10,000 for The Exeter Foundation charity, with money raised going towards helping a range of charities and groups across the region.

On 4th October, the finalists from the Devon Schools Choir Competition, run by La La Choirs, took centre stage at Southernhay URC and competed for a chance to perform in Exeter Cathedral at the annual sell out concert, CLIC for Christmas. Stagecoach South West has raised £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support, following a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event at the Exeter depot.
