An Art for Life charity auction takes place on Saturday 11 May 2013 at the Royal Clarence Hotel in Cathedral Yard, Exeter.

The event is set to take place from 10.30am-12.30pm and will display a vast amount of artwork by South West academicians and other established British artists including works by Ken Howard RA OBE, Rose Hilton ARCA, Peter Brown NEAC and many more.

The paintings have been donated to the auction, which will be conducted by Robin Barlow, in order to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West. This fantastic charity cares for children with a limited life...

Exeter Blitz DVD raises money for St Loye’s Foundation Transitions Programme

Following a successful launch in Princesshay Square last May, a DVD on the Bombing of Exeter has been on sale helping to raise money for St Loye’s Foundation.

Following almost a year’s worth of sales, the team behind the DVD proudly presented a cheque of nearly £300 to the St Loye’s Foundation Transitions Fund.

Hard working Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) staff got a treat recently from local company Therapy Works South West, who came in to demonstrate their seated acupressure massage in the work place scheme. Each member of staff was treated to 30 minutes of treatment which combines warming and loosening strokes (to back, neck and arms) with pressure point work (to back, forearms and hands). Grand Western Canal to host charity walk

Families are being invited to the Grand Western Canal on Sunday 19 May to take part in the annual sponsored walk in aid of CLIC Sargent.

It is the 23rd year of the event in aid of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. The walk covers 10 miles of the Grand Western Canal towpath, from Tiverton Canal Basin to Burlescombe village hall. Devon Hotels raised over £1,000 for the RNLI and Hospitality Action following a charity auction at their Annual Association Dinner, with each charity receiving £500 to put towards the valuable work they do.

James Sharp, Chair of Devon Hotels said: “We are grateful to our members for raising such a fantastic sum of money for these groups and for the prizes that they donated. Devon Hotels represents more than 50 hotels and restaurants in the county and the work that both the RNLI and Hospitality Action do is imperative to our industry, as well as Devon’s tourism.”

Devon Community Foundation welcoming cycle in Devon this weekend

Devon Community Foundation are looking forward to welcoming Calderdale Community Foundation this weekend when they are passing through the county as part of their 906 mile Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride raising money for young apprenticeships.

The Cycle4Work campaign, which has so far raised more than £95,000, is being lead by Calderdale Community Foundation’s CEO Steve Duncan along with a team of seven cyclists coming from a variety of sporting and ‘not-so-sporting’ backgrounds. Copplestone man charged with Help for heroes charity fraud

Christopher Copeland aged 51 years from Copplestone, near Crediton has today, Wednesday 17 April been charged with 16 counts of fraud by false representation in connection with the Help for Heroes Charity.

He has been released on bail to appear before Exeter Magistrates Court on Wednesday 8 May.

Headway Devon are holding a second-hand book sale at our offices in Exeter to raise money for local people with brain injuries.

The sale will take place on Wednesday 17th April from 2pm-7.30pm and offers a great range of modern and classic fiction, non-fiction and autobiography, cookery and children's books.

Teas, coffees and homemade biscuits will also be available to buy.

Entry is free and all are welcome - we hope to see you there!
