On Friday 18th April 2014 Exeter Axhayes Cats Protection Adoption Centre are holding their Easter fun/open day. The will be lots to do, including an Easter Egg hunt , bouncy castle, face painting, caft activities, children's entertainment, fun dog agility show, static bird of prey display, BBQ, cream teas, refreshments, raffle, tombola, competitions and much more. It will be a fun packed family day out. And of course see all of the wonderful cats and kittens looking for new homes.

ALL money raised from this event goes directly towards helping local cats in our care.

Devon Freewheelers has unveiled its latest fundraising scheme – a competition to win a trolley dash at the Tesco store in Honiton!

The prizewinner will have 60 seconds to sprint along the aisles and fill their trolley with food produce only, up to the value of £200.

Raffle tickets, costing £1, are available from the Honiton Tesco Customer Service Desk, Wendy’s Cookshop in Honiton High Street and Otter Windows and A1 Print & Stitch on the Heathpark Industrial Estate.

Training school launched for new bikers

Safer motorbike riding in Devon has received a boost with the announcement that Devon Freewheelers is to offer accredited training for new riders – with a special launch price just in time for Christmas.

The emergency biker charity has recently been awarded accreditation by the Driving Standards Agency to run a compulsory basic training (CBT) course and Direct Access training. By law, new riders must possess the CBT certificate before they ride on public roads.

Wanted: Father Christmas thrill-seekers

A number of local and national charities are looking for daredevil volunteers to jump from a perfectly good aircraft, dressed as Father Christmas.

Skydive UK, near Honiton, have launched their annual Santa Skydive this week, set to take place from 27-29 December.

Up to 120 charity fundraisers will jump 15,000ft dressed as Father Christmas to raise money for good causes.

Do you have piles of clothes that you no longer wear? Do you wish you had a whole new wardrobe but can't afford a shopping spree? Then this is the event for you!! Join us at County Hall's clothes swapping event and swap 'til you drop!

How it works:

Drop off your clothes, shoes and accessories in advance of the event (either by prior arrangement or by turning up to the event 30 mins or so early). For each item you bring you will receive one ticket. At 5pm on the day you can begin swapping your tickets for new items....

Emergency blood couriers ask for winter fundraising support

A vital voluntary courier service that operates even in the worst weather conditions is asking Devon businesses and community organisations to give a helping hand during the winter months.

Devon Freewheelers, the charity that provides an emergency out-of-hours courier service delivering crucial medical supplies such as blood and tissue to Devon’s NHS hospitals, experiences a drop off in fundraising at this time of year, as many of its supporter events are held outdoors in the spring and summer.

However, this is the season when the service needs more support than ever....

Princesshay hosts the MS Society Big Orange Drop Abseil

Princesshay Shopping Centre has partnered up with the MS Society to support people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), by hosting the Big Orange Drop Abseil on Thursday 31st October from 12 noon until 7pm.

Princesshay and the MS Society are very keen for all to get involved and aim to raise as much money as possible. So if descending a massive 80 feet on Halloween sounds like your kind of thing and you’re over 12 years old, the centre would love to hear from you!

Exeter pirate enthusiasts on the rampage for Exmouth RNLI appeal

A group of pirate enthusiasts from Exeter led by Cap’n Queeg, plan to go on a fundraising tour of the city for their local lifeboat station on 19 September.

For the fourth year running, the pirates are due to embark on a pub crawl of Exeter, this year raising money for Exmouth RNLI’s launch and recovery vehicle appeal. Taking place on Thursday 19 September, which is International Talk like a Pirate Day, the city fundraisers are inviting people to join them along the route. Members of the public are welcome to join in along the way. The Cap’n says:

FORCE and Exeter Family Friendly celebrate successful year

Staff members from FORCE Cancer Charity and Exeter Family Friendly came together on Tuesday to toast a hugely successful 12 months, during which Exeter Family has raised £5,500 for their chosen charity of the year.

Exeter Family, who recently won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Exeter Business Awards, raised the majority of the money through staff taking part in daring and dedicated activities, including the Rock Solid Race; a gruelling 5 and 10km obstacle race, a sponsored walk, 100 mile bike ride and supermarket collections.

Princesshay support MS Society Challenge60 with Wig-ty-60 Day

The Princesshay team continues to support Land Securities’ national charity, the MS Society, by taking part in ‘Wig-ity-60’ on Friday 26 July. The national charity is marking its 60th anniversary this year with a Challenge60 campaign, which aims to raise £250,000 in 60 days to fund vital research.

Members of the Princesshay team wore bright orange wigs on Friday 26 July in an effort to raise awareness and money for the MS Society’s Challenge60 fundraising event. Security guards, car park attendants, cleaners and centre management staff all took part.
