Auction for the Promise Club is a three piece band based in the South West.

Howard Jones heads for Exeter

It was in 1983 that Howard Jones first burst upon the contemporary music scene with his very English songwriting, pioneering synthesizers and thought provoking lyrics.

He set out his manifesto in his very first single ‘ New Song’. The lyrics called on the listener to challenge their preconceived ideas, to see both sides and ‘throw off your mental chains’. New Song was recently used in a pivotal scene in ‘Breaking Bad’ where Aaron Paul’s character Jessie Pinkman questions if he wants to ‘play by the rules’. New Song peaked at number 3 in the UK singles charts.

Killing Joke to visit Exeter HMV

Legendary London-based rock band Killing Joke will visit Exeter’s HMV on Tuesday 27 October to celebrate the release of their latest album, ‘Pylon’.

The band will be visiting at 5pm to meet fans and sign copies of the new LP – ‘Plyon’, which isn't designed to accompany a quiet night at home in front of the fire. Pylon is very much music as ritual - raw, uncompromising and precisely-targeted lyrically, for all rock and metal fans.

Fighstar, a four-piece rock band fronted by Charlie Simpson are coming to Exeter this October.

After playing Sonisphere in 2010, they went on an indefinate hiatus. Charlie went on to persue a successful solo career and the other band mates went down other career paths. They are now back and releasing new material, along with embarking on a UK tour.

The Kinks to play Exeter Corn Exchange

Fans of legendary UK rock band The Kinks are in for a treat at Exeter Corn Exchange on Wednesday 12 August.

Kast Off Kinks features former members of the band back together again to re-live the good times.

The line-up features Mick Avory (the band’s original drummer), John Dalton (who played with the band in the 60s and 70s) on bass and vocals, Ian Gibbons (from the 80s and 90s line up) on keyboards and vocals and Dave Clarke (formerly of the Beach Boys) on guitar and vocals.

Lovers of traditional music are in for a rare treat when a special concert at Exeter Northcott Theatre on 12 July brings together harmonica wizard Will Pound and his band, members of South West-based Wren Band and 25 young musicians from Devon.

Harry Potter joins forces with Exeter Cavern & Concrete Donkey for Exeter Pound

Exeter Pound has revealed its £E10 note will feature Exeter’s iconic Gandy Street, accompanied on the reverse by local band Concrete Donkey on stage at Exeter Cavern.

Daniel Hillier of Vision ICT captured the image of the band’s drummer Dave Parsons at a recent gig in the club.

For Daniel, he said “It is great to see this culturally important venue being represented on the £E10”.
