Feast of Fiddles was formed in 1994 as a one-off concert ensemble as Hugh Crabtree thought it would be a good idea and Mike Sanderson of Nettlebed Folk Club thought so too!

Fast forward and in 2017 their sixth studio album entitled Sleight of Elbow will be released. The new album Sleight of Elbow is something of a departure for the band as it features a lot of original compositions from within the band and only a single traditional tune.

Feast of Fiddles embarks on its 24th annual spring tour in 2017 to coincide with the release of their new album.

I was lucky enough to enjoy a night at the Plymouth Pavilions on Saturday night. I am a huge Bastille fan especially after seeing them live at Radio 1s Big Weekend at Powderham Castle this summer. Their Wild World tour encompasses a gruelling schedule finshing in May 2017 with several dates in the United States.

There were two acts supporting Bastille on Saturday in Plymouth – Childcare and Rationale. We were in the queue when Childcare performed but were really impressed with Rationale.

Rationale (formerly known as Tinashe Fazakerley) was born 1984 in Harare, Zimbabwe in...

Playing ‘bourbon soaked gypsy blues bop ‘n’ stroll’, The Urban Voodoo Machine are a seven to ten-piece band hailing from Dalston, East London.

In 2002 Paul-Ronney Angel had an idea. He’d lead a band. They’d dress in black and red. There would be a LOT of them. And their music would sound like a great night out in a dangerous part of town. From the get-go, The UVM fused junkyard blues and stinging rockabilly with mariachi horns, fiddles, sinister cabaret and punk rock tangos.

‘I wanted to play rock’n’roll music with a different instrumentation,’ says Angel, ‘Taking...

A leading South West law firm has launched a competition for talented bands in Devon – with the winner to play a slot at the Devon County Show in May this year. Stephens Scown LLP is hosting a hospitality evening at the County Show on 19 May this year, which is due to be attended by 400 guests. A well-known band (yet to be announced) will be headlining on the evening. But the firm is calling for entries from schools, colleges and community bands who would like to entertain the cream of the Devon agricultural community in a 20-30 minute slot. To enter, they simply need to send a video clip...
