The organisation responsible for buying most healthcare services in Devon has been shortlisted for an award following its efforts to help reduce inappropriate attendances at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) research project aimed at understanding how urgent care services were being used in Devon has been shortlisted for a national Chartered Institute of Public Relations campaign award.

The CCG will find out if it has won the award at an event on 22 November.

Fire service personnel receive commendations for river rescue

A firefighter and control operator who saved the lives of a mother and daughter who were trapped by severe flooding have been awarded Chief Fire Officer’s Commendations.

The mother and her 13-year-old daughter had become trapped when the car they were travelling in entered deep flood water at Sheepwash, Beaworthy, on 11 October 2012.

The car was carried along by the water until it collided with a tree and the only option was for them to climb out through the sun roof and then into the tree when the car started to move.

Exeter computer imaging company scoops national accolade

Exeter-based world-leading software and services provider Simpleware has added another national accolade to its collection after scooping an IOP Innovation Award.

The award recognises Simpleware’s achievements in developing a computer modelling package that can be used in medical imaging technologies, advance engineering and component design.

RAMM was presented with the Collections Best Practice Award at the OpenCulture 2013 conference reception at the Kia Oval on Tuesday 2 July.

A Passivhaus project in which Exeter-based Aspect Windows installed the windows and doors has been shortlisted for a national award.
