Drive to make Exeter an active city

An exciting campaign to make Exeter the most active city in the South West stepped into gear.

Get Active Exeter is a growing partnership of public and private sector organisations, including local media, large employers and councils, who have joined together in a bid to make the city the most active in the South West by 2018.

A programme of activity will run over three years, and will include 90 different get active projects across the city.

For the first phase of activity, large local employers like EDF Energy and Exeter City Council will be targeted for workplace...

Special sessions at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) help people with memory problems, their families and carers share experiences inspired by the museum’s objects and exhibitions, expanding horizons at a time when many people affected by dementia feel as if their world is shrinking.

RAMM’s Living Each Season Living Each Season dementia-friendly activities are inspired by a groundbreaking programme at the Museum of Modern Art in New York which focuses on living in the moment.

Holiday fun at Isca Church

Children had lots of fun at an Exeter church summer holiday club, with games, drama, crafts, stories and a sports day.

Staff and volunteers from Isca Church welcomed 67 children to the club, which had the theme Polar Explorers, and took place at Willowbrook School.

They held their sports day at the Exeter Arena and later enjoyed a high-spirited prize giving and bbq at the new The Beacon, youth and community centre in Beacon Heath.

Devon Wildlife Trust has teamed up with South West Water to offer a range of wildlife events for all ages this summer. The events have both water and wildlife themes and will include rockpool rambles on the coast, and pond-dipping, bug-hunting and wildlife walks at stunning nature reserves.
