Proposals approved for next section of Teign Estuary Trail

Plans for the next section of the Teign Estuary Trail have been approved by Devon County Council’s Development Management Committee.

The decision is the latest positive announcement for the project after the development of the trail won the Excellence in Sustainable Infrastructure category at the recent Landscape Institute Awards.

Councillors backed the 5km extension of the multi-use trail from the Passage House Inn to Teignmouth which will be accessible to walkers, cyclists and people in wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Public urged to wait their turn as booster programme expands in Devon

This week the UK government announced the booster programme is being significantly expanded to fight the Omicron Covid-19 variant.

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has announced that current vaccines are likely to be at least partially effective against the Omicron variant and that having the booster offers a much higher antibody response against Covid-19.

On Wednesday 24th November, in one of the worst incidents since 2014, 27 migrants lost their lives trying to cross the Channel. The group, who were travelling from Calais to Dover, were crammed onto a small inflatable dinghy in their attempt to reach the UK.
