A leading national property consultancy has been shortlisted for a prestigious award which celebrates excellence in undergraduate employability.

Fisher German, which has an office in Exeter, has been announced as a finalist for the ‘Best Development Programme’ award in the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards for the second year in a row.

The award recognises employers who go above and beyond to develop students' technical and soft skills, and empower them to be more effective and successful employees.

Fisher German is one of just five companies shortlisted for the award, and sits alongside national and multinational leaders in banking, technology and law.

The firm was shortlisted in recognition of its placement offering which give students hands-on industry experience as well as its new virtual ‘Insight Programme’, a programme which gives participants an introduction to surveying as well as an opportunity to enhance their CV.

The firm offers 12-month placements to university students looking to progress into the property sector which cover both soft and technical skills to complement their studies.

Those undertaking a placement have their own workload and are directly client facing with real responsibility under supervision, and are also provided with bespoke training days, have a dedicated mentor, are given study support and are invited to CPD days and social activities.

The Insight Programme includes career-focused personal development sessions, projects and research work relating to the key sectors of the business, and the opportunity to chat to some of the firm’s graduates.

It also features presentations from senior management and experts from across the business as well as APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) and career path talks.

The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony on March 4.

Ruth Ofield, Fisher German Partner and Head of Graduate Recruitment, said: “It’s fantastic to be shortlisted for the Best Development Programme award for the second year.

“At Fisher German, we pride ourselves on developing talent and providing students with a wide range of experiences to help them gain the skills and experience they need to progress in their careers.

“We are also keen to broaden participation and widen the talent pool for the whole industry, which is why we launched our Insight Programme.

“Its aim is to increase people’s knowledge about surveying as a potential career choice and educate others about the different areas of surveying.

“We had two very successful intakes for the programme and received some fantastic feedback, and some of the participants have since gone on to apply for our graduate scheme.”
