Northgate Vehicle Hire, market leader in flexible vehicle hire and fleet solutions, has appointed Vicky Davison as Rental Manager at its Exeter depot.

Having worked in the rental industry since 1990 for companies such as Avis, Arriva and Europcar, Vicky’s existing industry experience will see her take responsibility of the day-to-day management of staff and drivers at Northgate’s Exeter depot.

Police appeal after three-vehicle collision near Newton Poppleford

Police are appealing for witnesses after three vehicles were involved in a road traffic collision on Saturday 16 March near Newton Poppleford. The collision happened at around 3.30pm on the A3052, one mile west of Newton Poppleford, near Sidmouth. Fire and ambulance crews attended the collision which involved a Suzuki Wagon, an Audi A3 and an Audi A4. The female driver of the Suzuki, from Exeter, was airlifted to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with serious back and leg injuries. An elderly man travelling in one of the other vehicles sustained a head injury which was not serious....

Exeter Bedroom Tax Protest

On Saturday 16 March 150 or so concerned people gathered in Bedford Square in Exeter to show their opposition to the reviled Bedroom Tax. This was one of nearly 60 such rallies across the UK coming together at the same time, a groundswell of some 15,000 protesters.

16 killed, 80 injured in fireworks accident in Mexico

A tragic accident involving fireworks occurred in Jesus Tepactepec, a village of about 1,000 people 70 miles (112 kilometers) east of Mexico City on Friday 15 March. A fireworks explosion during a religious procession killed at least 16 people and another 80 remain hospitalised due to their injuries, authorities said.

Departing England Under-20s Head Coach Rob Hunter paid tribute to his team after they were crowed Six Nations champions for an unprecedented third time in a row after an impressive 28-15 win away in Wales at Eirias Park.

Exmouth RNLI SOS day raised over £2,500

£2,590.47 was the total raised from the Exmouth RNLI SOS Day event, Six On Saddles. Held on Sunday 20 January, six volunteers from the lifeboat and shore crew cycled the Exe estuary to raise money towards the launch and recovery vehicle for the Shannon-class lifeboat expected in early 2014.

A protest rally took place in Exeter's Bedford Square today against Government plans for what has been dubbed by its opponents as the ‘Bedroom Tax’. The protest was one of hundreds taking place all over the UK urging the Coalition Government to rethink its controversial plans, which are expected to affect 660,000 people when it comes into effect next month.
