Equality South West calls on South West MPs to back same-sex marriage

Equality South West (ESW) is calling on MPs in the region to back same-sex marriage when the issue returns to the House of Commons today. The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill was approved in February, but an amendment has now been tabled that would enable heterosexual couples to enter into civil partnerships. This has been labelled a ‘wrecking amendment’ by Maria Miller, the Equalities minister, but supporters see it as an important final measure to ensure real equality for couples regardless of sexual orientation. Inflation or deflation? That is the Question...

Tim Walker Head of Office Brewin Dolphin Exeter:

Which is more beneficial to savers?

Since 2008, investors have been questioning whether it is inflation or deflation that haunts them. One might imagine that by now we would be closer to knowing the truth but, in our experience, the answer to these ‘either/or’ questions is almost always ‘neither’. When the two options are polar opposites, some combination inevitably turns out to be the true path.

When approaching the question from a scientific perspective, the answer is easy. There has historically been inflation...

Alzheimer's Society invites Devon to 'join the conversation on dementia'

There are 800,000 people with dementia in the UK, and this number is set to rise to one million by 2021. So, it’s not surprising that so many people are worried about it. In fact, people over 55 now fear dementia more than any other disease, including cancer.

This Dementia Awareness Week™ the Alzheimer's Society wants to get as many people as possible talking about dementia, as the more we talk about it, the more we’ll know, and the more prepared we’ll be to face it.

Ruth Jones, is supporting Alzheimer’s Society for the first time by fronting Dementia Awareness Week™, which...

Exeter Chiefs captain Tom Hayes says yet more "exciting" times lie ahead for the club after another impressive year of action both in the Aviva Premiership and the Heineken Cup.

Exeter's last-day 40-39 victory over Gloucester at a packed Sandy Park, not only ensured Rob Baxter's side of sixth spot in English rugby's top division, but it guaranteed the Chiefs would be mixing it with Europe's elite again next season.

Having tasted the delights of Heineken Cup rugby for the first time during the 2012/13 campaign, Hayes insists he and his club-mates will be more than happy to...
