Police appeal to trace owner of stolen rings

Police in Exeter are appealing for information to identify three rings, which they believe have been stolen. The rings were seized two weeks ago and are suspected to have been stolen from a burglary, probably within the last three months. It might well be that the loser is unaware that their jewellery has been stolen. The rings are fairly distinctive and appear to be quite old – probably belonging to the same person. All have a gold band and are set with diamond stones of some description.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who recognises these rings and ask that they contact them...

Joint clean-up of oil leak at RD&E Hospital

Specialist contractors, appointed by the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, are working with the Environment Agency to minimise the impact of an oil leak in the grounds of the hospital.

Knowledge of the incident was brought to the attention of the Environment Agency by members of the public. Reports of a "strong odour" and "oily sheen" from a stream flowing through Ludwell Valley Park in Exeter were submitted to the agency.

The pollution originated from a surface water outfall in the park. Absorbent booms and pads were deployed to soak up the oil, but the spill continued and...

Why I love Exeter

My sister has always had a tendency to faint at the slightest thing - blood, manual labour, needles... but her worst weakness is heat.

Exeter has had amazing weather this summer, and I always appreciate the city more in the sun.

However, being stuck on a train for 3 hours, without air conditioning, is a downside.

My sister found herself on a delayed, and therefore highly congested, train from London to Exeter. People were standing up the aisles, sweating with a proximity far too close for comfort. Just as she was about to exit the train, she found herself fainting...

The Exeter Spitfires have continued to improve as their inaugural season in the South West Baseball League is approaching the finish. The Spitfires took on the Torbay Barons for a double header recently at Chadwick Field. The Spitfires, behind good pitching and some excellent hitting, including the first home runs for the club, managed to win both games.

In a back and forth battle in the opening game the Spitfires eventually came through 23-18 winners. In game two, after initially allowing the Barons to jump into an 8-0 lead, the Spitfires fought back strongly for a convincing 29-...
