University of Exeter and Hospiscare team up to recycle Christmas trees for the third year running

The University of Exeter and Hospiscare have teamed up once again to recycle Christmas trees and support terminally ill people and their families.

Hospiscare’s vans collected trees from households across Exeter, Exmouth, Honiton, Tiverton, Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary on 13th and 14thJanuary, in exchange for a £10 donation.

Trees were then taken to the University’s Streatham Campus to be chipped by the Grounds Team and the chippings have been used as mulch for the university’s shrub beds.

New year, new branch for Donaldson Timber Engineering

Leading timber engineering manufacturer Donaldson Timber Engineering Ltd (DTE) has opened its tenth branch in the UK with a new location in Exeter.

The new branch in the south west of England will service Devon and the surrounding area, including Cornwall.

DTE has recruited a team of 12 for the branch, including Karol Radziejowski who takes up the role of general manager following three years as general manager of the Cambridge site. Karol has worked at DTE for 13 years, starting as a production operative in Ilkeston in September 2009.

Pupils from across the South West have taken part in a moving academic conference to mark Holocaust Memorial Day at the University of Exeter.

This year marks 78 years since the liberation of the largest Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, and the end of the Holocaust. The aim of Holocaust Memorial Day is to encourage people to learn about the past, to unite in remembrance of those who were murdered for who they were and stand against prejudice and hatred.
