Devon businesses named as 'inspirational'

Local Devon Businesses have been named as real growth industries as part of the London Stock Exchange group's ‘1000 companies that inspire Britain.’

The companies included Emcas based in Paignton, chartered accountants Francis Clark LLP and Masons Kings an agricultural machinery company with three depots in Devon.

Ninth body found in helicopter crash

A ninth body has been recovered from the wreckage of the Clutha pub in Glasgow which was crashed into by a helicopter on Friday night. Police have said that they cannot rule out the possibility of more bodies being found as they continue to clear the scene. Three people on board the helicopter have died and at least six pub patrons have been confirmed as dead. The helicopter’s crew has been named pilot David Traill, 51 and police officers Tony Collins, 43 and Kirsty Nelis, 36. Two men Samuel McGhee, 56 and Gary Arthur, 48 are the first to be named among the pub-goers. The accident happened...

Echo editor to leave for Plymouth role

The editor of the Express & Echo is leaving to run the newspaper's sister title in Plymouth.

Paul Burton was appointed to the Exeter post in June this year.

He replaces Ian Wood, the former editor of Plymouth's The Herald, who left last week after 20 months in the job.

Paul will take up the new position on Monday December 9.

Former drink driver helps Police campaign

A new anti-drink driving campaign for the festive period will see Devon and Cornwall Police team up with a convicted drink driver.

The 33-year-old Plymouth University student lost his licence after being caught beind the wheel while three times over the legal limit.

The student, who wishes not to be named, is now supporting the Force in its annual drink drive campaign which runs throughout December.

Exeter ‘Come Dine With Me’ star's fundraiser

Exeter-based PR Consultant Glen King, with clients across the South West, celebrated her TV debut on popular Channel 4 programme, ‘Come Dine with Me’ by hosting a special event to raise awareness for Exeter Foodbank.
