Local singer songwriter Charlotte Ward, who supported X Factor finalist Luke Friend and The Voice quarter finalist Adam Issac last Friday night at the Exeter Phoenix, gets her own shot at making talent show history tomorrow.

Charlotte is travelling to Birmingham National Exhibition Centre to compete in the national finals of the prestigious talent show Open Mic UK.

Described at “one of the toughest competitions in the country” it has been previously been the launch pad for artists such as Birdy, Lucy Spraggan and Hattie Keane.

10,000 people entered Open Mic UK this year and 15 year old Charlotte is one of only 25 acts in the Under 16 Final.

Judges’ feedback from the previous round was very positive: “What. A. Voice. Loved it! Very talented girl. Kate Bush-like song.”

Charlotte is hoping that her new song “Reach me” will also find favour with the impressive line-up of experienced music industry judges tomorrow.

She is modest about her achievements so far. “I’m just a normal teenager and the fact that so many people know my name is mind blowing really. I’m so excited about performing in the Final”.

You can vote for Charlotte and boost her hopes for success by texting OPEN14 to 86222 until 2pm on Saturday 18 January.
