More than 25 emergency rescue flights in the storms

Search and rescue helicopters from the Royal Navy have made more than 25 emergency journeys during the recent storms.

9 people were rescued in the West Country with helicopter crews from Royal Navy Station Culdrose battling with the extreme conditions.

These conditions made the journeys far more dangerous and saw 50knot (57mph) head winds triple the journey time of some flights requiring extra stops for fuel in North Devon.

Forty young people from Devon have been honoured for achieving their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award.

The young people have completed their Gold award and were presented with their awards by Deputy Lieutenant, Sir John Evans QPM DL LL.B at a ceremony at County Hall in Exeter.

Plans to cut mobile library numbers

Devon County council has announced plans to cut the cost of its mobile library service

Under the changes, 65 of the most under-used mobile library stops will be removed from routes from April onwards.

Users of the remaining 454 stops will see the frequency of visits change from fortnightly to monthly.

Whle some people will have the opportunity to receive books and spoken-word items delivered to their homes instead.

Your stroke services are currently provided by the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (for the hospital part of stroke care) and Northern Devon NHS Healthcare Trust (for the rehabilitation part of stroke care).

Children's homes future in doubt

The future of three of Devon’s Children’s homes- including one at the centre of a sexual abuse investigation- are in doubt as the council reviews its care of vulnerable children.
