Broken down by region, detailed MoT data reveals that Exeter is among the bottom ten places for MoT passes with a 53 per cent pass rate. The most common reasons for failure were lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment (23.6 per cent of failures), followed by suspension (17.5 per cent of failures) and brakes (14.4 per cent of failures). The Devonshire city found itself fourth from bottom of the list, its clean air clearly not enough alone to keep its cars healthy.

Spring is finally doing its thing at Knightshayes. It has come not a moment too soon as on Monday 12 May the National Trust property on the outskirts of Tiverton is hosting its annual National Gardens Scheme (NGS) open day.
The NGS was founded in 1927 to raise money for the Queen's Nursing Institute by opening gardens of quality and interest to the public. During this time, over £35 million has been donated to nursing, caring and gardening societies. Knightshayes was one of the first to join the scheme, well before the Trust took on the house and its hugely significant gardens in...
Not all ‘friends’ have good intentions, and those that only want to use you are certainly ones you need to stop hanging out with. Sure, loaning a little money here and there and doing a couple favors when you can are needed in a friendship. But, when you are the only one doing these things, you need to question what the other person is willing to do for you. People that are always there for you are the ones worthy of doing favors for. However, the ones that just need you for a minute and disappear afterwards are the ones you need to push out of your life.

The parade will include many people wearing colourful masks, made at recent...
With Stuart Lancaster’s options for the England No.2 jersey somewhat stretched right now, Exeter Chiefs starlet Luke Cowan-Dickie reminded the Red Rose supremo of his blossoming talents.
The 20-year-old hooker was the stand-out figure as the Chiefs wrapped up their fourth season in English rugby’s top flight with a 23-13 victory on the road at Newcastle Falcons.
Cowan-Dickie not only claimed the first of Exeter’s three tries on the day, but his live-wire performance throughout would have been duly noted by the watching Lancaster...
This is one of the most famous incidents when it comes to alien sightings. This occurred years ago on the famous Apollo 11 mission when the crew saw a strange object from their location. The crew assumed it to be a detached part of the rocket until it was found out that the object was actually 6000 miles away. It has been years since the sighting, but NASA still has no answer to this mystery.
#2 – Napolean’s Microchip
Napoleon Bonaparte, a former French ruler, left us with an interesting clue as scientists found a small (about half an inch...
Saturday may be nearly over, but it looks like the wind is here to stay. The Met Office have issued a Yellow weather warning of wind, with high gales set to hit the South West until midnight tonight.
Gusts of 50 to 60 mph are predicted for the region this evening.
The public should be aware that this could lead to difficult driving conditions and perhaps some disruption to outdoor activities.
The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/links.html
