An Exeter School pupil has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café in their efforts to fundraise and build awareness around dementia and Alzheimer's.

Sixth Former Richard Baker has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café because he enjoys helping others. He has attended some of the social events that the Memory Café runs for carers and their cared-for and is helping to publicise a charity art auction that is taking place at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) on Friday 25 April to raise funds.

Doctors raise blood pressure in patients

Doctors routinely record blood pressure levels that are significantly higher than levels recorded by nurses, the first thorough analysis of scientific data has revealed. School Bus Crash leaves Driver in Hospital

A woman suffered serious injuries after a road traffic collision involving a school minibus and a van in Holsworthy yesterday afternoon. (25 March)

None of the 15 Children on the minibus, from Holsworthy Community College, received any serious injuries in the crash.

A statement on the schools' website says "pupils suffered minor injuries and shock and were given first aid in school." but "No pupils have suffered serious injury."

The two vehicles collided at the crossroad at around 3.45pm, both vehicles left road and came to rest in a property adjacent to the road...

Sign Language Week is Social Media Triumph

With the backing of local radio, businesses, and celebrities such as Caroline Quentin, with over 100 videos created, the British Sign Language Celebration (BSL) Week campaign, run by Exeter Deaf Academy, SignUp BSL and Deafinite Interpreters has been a great success. The campaign hoped to get as many people as possible filming themselves signing their name and the organisations were inundated with clips. Sidmouth police are aiming to forge positive links with young people by setting up the town’s first Scooter and BMX Jam.

The neighbourhood team has organised the event on Saturday 5 April to provide vital youth activities and engage with young people about personal safety and antisocial behaviour.

The event will take place from 11am to 4pm at The Ham on the eastern end of Sidmouth Esplanade. Scooter manufacturer Maddgear will be bringing their roadshow and portable skate park with five of their pro-team scooter and BMX riders to run demonstrations, tuition and competitions...

Update: As of his morning 16 schools will be closed or partially closed sue to decisions to close beign made late in the day.

Exeter City to hold Futsal Tournament

Exeter City is holding its first ever One Game One Community five a side Futsal tournament next Sunday (30 March).

Players from local black and minority ethnic communities have been especially invited to participate at the event which is being held in the University of Exeter Sports Hall. The Exeter City Supporters Trust backed One Game One Community (Kick it Out) Group aims to promote equality and diversity through football related initiatives. A regular outdoor summer tournament is held but this is the first time an indoor competition has been organised.
