Firms hail Exeter Resilience Show 2014 a success

Companies across Devon took part in the county’s first Resilience Show in Exeter which was held on Thursday (23 October).

Free advice and insight into an array of sustainable ideas, products and services was on offer from experts at Resilience Show 2014, held at Southernhay Hall in the heart of Exeter.

The show was organised by Exeter firm Green My Business with all profits from the day going to the Southernhay Church Buildings Appeal.

Big Lottery grant secures future of YMCA Exeter Job Clubs

YMCA Exeter have been awarded a grant worth £304,781 from The National Lottery Big Lottery Fund, securing the future of their Community Job Clubs for the next three years.

The charity runs Job Clubs across the city, delivering specialist support to anyone affected by factors which make obtaining work seem hopeless, such as homelessness, criminal history, disabilities, or living in deprived areas. Crediton Fitness staff are to undertake a staff vs customer Pad Boxing Circuit Challenge to support disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.

Lords Meadow Leisure Centre will be raising money for BBC Children in Need by becoming a group challenge hero to support the 2014 appeal. Fitness staff will be inviting customers to help raise money to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Donkey century for Dorothy!

A donkey-mad grandmother has knitted her 100th toy donkey in aid of The Donkey Sanctuary. Dorothy Harrison, from Beacon Heath, Exeter, started knitting the toys after picking up a knitting pattern on a visit to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth in 2011 and enjoyed knitting the donkeys so much she set herself the challenge of knitting 100. 'What’s your beef' burger fans?

Exeter’s original burger restaurant, urbanburger, has today launched the ‘What’s your beef?’ competition inviting people to create the ultimate burger and win a place on the menu. Young cyclists wanted for bone health study

University of Exeter researchers are looking for young male cyclists to take part in a study investigating how our body composition is affected by the sports we practice.

The team is seeking boys aged 12-14 who have cycled for three hours or more per week for the past three years, and who expect to continue over the next three years.
