It is thought that up to 40 Exeter-based City Link drivers could lose their jobs after the firm announced it had gone into administration on Christmas Day.
The firm has a depot on Marsh Barton, which is likely to be affected.
On the company's Exeter Chamber of Commerece web page the compnay says: "Our drivers are the biggest ambassadors of our business and you will usually see the same driver on a daily basis at an agreed collection time.
"Our people are at the heart of our business and take pride in everything they do. We continually invest in training programmes...
Productivity could grow faster in the countryside than urban areas over the next decade, with a rise in rural jobs, thanks to a high-tech boost from speedier broadband and better transport links, a new analysis has shown.
Increased connectivity, spread of innovation, growth in knowledge-based industries and changes in working patterns are expected to help rural areas catch up with urban areas over the next decade, contributing to the government’s long-term economic plan.
This is expected to deliver higher wages and output of rural areas could potentially increase by around...
Exeter City claimed a late Christmas present at the Park with a 1-0 Boxing Day win against Cheltenham Town.
It was Tom Nichols’ goal on the hour which proved the difference on the scoresheet come the final whistle, as Exeter recorded a first ever win against the Robins.
It also marked a second clean-sheet for 19-year-old stopper James Hamon, following a shut-out against Carlisle United a fortnight ago.
There were two changes to the starting XI for the Grecians – following the previous weekend’s defeat at Stevenage,...

Rail union RMT has pledged an all-out fight over rail investment in the South West after the Transport Secretary cast doubt on the scale of investment in the Plymouth region’s railways by admitting that just £40million has been promised – despite calls for a £7 billion package. RMT has branded the move a “complete and utter betrayal of the South West despite all the posturing and promises after the resilience of rail services was exposed in last year’s floods and storms.”
A spokesman added: "The line into Plymouth continues to be beset by delays and cancellations as the failing...
Rob Baxter says he wants to see a “back to basics” approach from his team as they look to tackle rivals Bath Rugby in tomorrow’s Aviva Premiership clash at a sold-out Recreation Ground (2pm).
Having seen their eight-game winning streak brought to a halt at Sale Sharks a week ago, Baxter is hoping there will be no additional festive hangover from his team as they look to return to winning ways.
With both clubs riding high at the top end of English rugby’s top flight, the battle for key league points merely adds to the spice of what is always an intriguing battle between both...
Broadclyst’s new £9,000 outdoor gym is ready to use! East Devon District Council has been working hard with Broadclyst Parish Council to provide residents with the free-to-use outdoor gym that they wanted.
Having an outdoor gym in Broadclyst was proposed and chosen by the local community. Earlier this year Broadclyst Parish Council and EDDC asked community groups and others to put forward their ideas as to how £11,800 of sports funding accumulated from recent local housing developments (Section 106 money) should be spent.
These ideas were then taken out to residents and...
Just like last year, Exeter City’s Boxing Day game in 2014 sees the Grecians pitted against Cheltenham Town.
This season, however, St James Park is the venue. Last year, former Grecian Jamie Cureton was the match-winner for the Robins, and this year former Exeter men Paul Buckle and Rob Edwards are the management duo for Cheltenham.
Historically, this has been one of the more frustrating fixtures for Exeter – last year’s 1-1 draw at St James Park was the first time the Grecians have got even as much as a draw out of...
