Brave Gemma beating the odds

Gemma Wensley is celebrating her “miraculous” survival five years on from being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The popular former Exeter nurse, who is well known for her charity fundraising, has good news to share.

She said: “I’ve been off my chemotherapy now for six months and the scans are looking positive. There has been no change since a year ago.

Arts and community folk from across South Devon are being invited to come along to the Pavilions Teignmouth Open House event on Saturday 28 March. The free event is being held at The Riviera Bar Cafe, Teignmouth from 1-3.30pm.

Local playwright Clive Essame has seen his play ‘Impisi’ performed by CEDA at the Exmouth Pavilion.

The cast, playwright Clive and director Anthony Richards worked together to put on a spectacular performance of the play ‘Impisi’ which is set in the African wilderness at Exmouth Pavilion.

Hospiscare's men's walk, the FUGBY12, takes place this Saturday and you can still take part.

If you want to join hundreds of other men setting off from St James Park football club in Exeter then turn up between 12.15pm and 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start for the seven mile walk around Mincinglake Valley Park.

Afterwards you'll get a free pasty and a pint and you can relax at the club by watching the Six Nations rugby match or catching up on the footie scores.

The Hospiscare FUGBY mascot, pictured, will be there. Wilkinson Grant is sponsoring the event.
