A working collaboration between Bilfinger Europa Facility Management, Princesshay’s security team and local charity St Loye’s Foundation has completely transformed the life of Devon resident Stephen Eede, providing him with the employment opportunity he thought was out of reach.

In 2008, Stephen fell through a sky light on a scaffolding job fracturing his spine. In constant pain and on heavy medication his employment options seemed extremely limited and he remained unemployed for over five years. Almost half (45%) of office workers in the South West spend less than 30 minutes a day walking around at work, according to new statistics released ahead of the first On Your Feet Britain campaign to get office workers moving more.

Start up record for Devon businesses

Devon has smashed the record for the number of new businesses launched in the area in a single year, according to new research. Statistics, compiled by www.informdirect.co.uk , have revealed that there were 5,501 companies formed in 2014, up from a previous best of 5,280. Exeter vets pioneer stem cell treatment

CityVets, a Veterinary Practice in Exeter, is using pioneering Adipose Stem Cell treatment on a four year old Siamese cat called Pharaoh who has been diagnosed with a previously untreatable disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

Using Adipose stem cell therapy, a relatively new treatment that CityVets has been using for chronic arthritis in dogs, Veterinary Surgeon Ed Pattison has adapted this technique using Pharaoh’s own fat cells to create unique stem cells that are used in an attempt to stop the progression of FIP and prolong his life.

Amy's first marathon is for Mencap

A housing officer at East Devon District Council will be running her first marathon later this month – and has chosen the gruelling London race for her initial outing.

Amy Gilbert, Support Services Manager, has run several half marathons, but has never before run in a full marathon. She is running in aid of Mencap, a charity that is dear to her heart as she has a younger sister who has severe mental and physical disabilities.

She aims to have at least £3,000 collected or pledged before she joins the other 40,000 or so runners in London on race day – Sunday 26 April....
