Human skull found at Devon tip

A reminder is being issued to users of Devon County Council’s recycling centres to think about the waste which they are taking to the sites, so as not to waste Council and Police time.

It follows the discovery of a human skull in the general waste skip at Sutton Barton Recycling Centre near Honiton on Thursday (17 September). The centre was closed for a few hours as Police had to be called to the site to examine the skull. On closer inspection it was found that the skull had been used for educational purposes.

Man's body recovered from the sea

Officers were called at 1pm on Saturday, 19 September, 2015 by coastguards after reports of man’s body was discovered floating in the water near Prawle Point, Salcombe.

An empty dinghy was seen by a member of the public and after a search of the area by the Lifeboat a body was found.

The local man in his 80s was given CPR at the scene but was pronounced dead.

His family have been informed and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

An Exeter-based charity held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open their two new zero carbon energy ‘Satellite’ Landlord Supported Living Houses.

Hockey star at Exeter School

Exeter School welcomed England and GB Hockey player and Olympian, Simon Mantell on Tuesday 8 September.

Having lived in the South West for much of his school life, Simon has gone on to become one of England's greatest hockey star forwards, receiving over 50 Great Britain caps while playing in all of the major international tournaments.
