Devon County Council’s ruling cabinet has given the go ahead to proceed with a planning application to extend Dinan Way, between Hulham Road and the A376 (Wednesday January 13).
An appraisal of route options will support a planning application for the preferred route.
The preferred route is a direct result of feedback from Lympstone and Exmouth residents and key stakeholders including East Devon District Council, Natural England and the National Trust.
The A376 and the B3179 Woodbury Road are both used extensively by commuters into Exeter.
The British Chambers of Commerce Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) results for Q4 2015, released on Thursday 7 January, indicate slower economic growth in the short term. The QES, Britain’s largest and most authoritative private sector business survey, based on almost 7,500 responses from companies, shows that most key manufacturing and services balances were weaker this quarter, but nationally manufacturing firms faired worse.
In Devon this is not the case, with manufacturers in Devon indicating an increase in UK sales (+17% on Q3), an increase in UK orders (+10% on Q3) and an...

East Devon District Council’s Countryside Team has been overwhelmed by the commitment and generosity of local volunteers.
Throughout 2015, they dedicated an astonishing 4,500 hours of service to the East Devon Countryside team, maintaining and preserving important nature reserves.
Cllr Iain Chubb, the council’s portfolio holder for the Environment, said: “Volunteers offer a range of skills and experience and are an invaluable resource to the Countryside team.
“Without their work, the East Devon countryside and the abundance of wildlife we enjoy would be very...
Drivers in Exeter are being invited to take part in a groundbreaking pilot programme that could help make driving in the city, the South West and, eventually, the globe cheaper, greener and safer.
Using pioneering technology designed and developed by Exeter-based Lightfoot®, the trial will help to establish if the system, which is already proven to cut fuel consumption by 15% and accidents by up to 60% in the commercial fleet sector, has the potential to do the same among the general public.
The pilot programme, which requires a minimum of 100 drivers, is being run in...
The Cabinet Office has confirmed that Devon's Youth Service will be part of their Delivering Differently for Young People programme.
It means that the County Council's service will receive £20,000 from the Government over coming months to help in establishing an independent social enterprise to run Devon’s youth service in future.

Devon County Council is expecting to complete repairs to a section of the sea wall at Lympstone early this week.
The authority responded after high tides and rough seas over the festive break took their toll on the length of the old masonry wall on Sowden Lane, creating a hole the size of a small car.
The damage to the wall, which supports the highway, was reported to the County Council on 1st January and was assessed the same day by the on-call bridge inspector.
The area was fenced off and the site made safe and repairs got underway earlier this week.
